My turn in the waves today and the waves were pretty small on arrival, but the forecast was good. I settled into video operator mode up until lunchtime with the hope that the waves would pick up as the tide turns.

Sure enough the wind picked up and the waves cleaned up a bit so I went for the 4.7. After launch I dropped downwind to the waves and focused on getting a few frontside turns on the way in with some port tack jumping on the way out. After getting dialled in to port tack it was time to psyche up for a port tack forward (with a little help from peer pressure). After a few runs I went for it but it was a half hearted attempt that was no more than a self induced catapult. Went for a back loop with a bit more success in the rotation - definitely easier to initiate.

Sailed until I could barely carry my kit up the beach - a good day.
